Brandon Williams

We have an SHHS alumnus with the Dallas Cowboys now.  From that Dallas Cowboys site:

Brandon Williams
Linebacker, Texas Tech
6-5, 252
4th Round (120th overall)

Who’s He: Like Butler, Williams stood out as a pass-rusher in college and led his conference in sacks as a junior last year, finishing with 13. Williams is fourth in Red Raiders annals with 22.5 career sacks. He has great size for the position, but there are some questions about his speed after running a 5.0-second 40-yard-dash at the combine.

Unique Quality: While his long speed is in doubt, the Cowboys are raving about his first-step burst. Scouts say Williams has the quickness to beat tackles around the edge and close on quarterbacks.

How He Fits: Chances are Williams is a special-teamer right away. He and Butler may compete for playing time as pass-rush specialists, but neither is ready to do all the things necessary to play in the base defense.

Worth Mentioning: There’s a world of potential here since Williams won’t turn 21-years-old until June 21. He’s a bit lanky right now, but his frame should fill out nicely in a NFL weight room.
